Jessica Chastain to Be Honored at Deauville Film Fest

Two months before the arrival of her next film, the marriage drama The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby, news arrives that Jessica Chastain will be honored at the Deauville American Film Festival (September 5–14) in Deauville, France.

Previous recipients of Deauville honors include Julianne Moore, Annette Bening, Susan Sarandon, Robin Wright and Naomi Watts.

Chastain has enjoyed the A-list spotlight for just a few years, but perhaps the fact that she broke out later in her career — and thus never got pigeon holed as the ingenue — has, along with her talent, afforded her the credibility and gravitas to become so quickly regarded as one of her generation’s most formidable actresses.

“Through her successive roles, [Chastain] has confirmed her emotional capacity to grab the limelight like no one since Nicole Kidman, and the Festival presented her with its New Hollywood award,” said festival artistic director Bruno Barde. “The tribute is a token of our affection, admiration, recognition and esteem for the talent of the recipient. For the past few years, we have been paying tribute to those actresses who embody the cinema of today, and who will form the legacy of tomorrow.”

In addition to Eleanor Rigby, Chastain will soon be gracing screens in A Most Violent Year, Crimson Peak, Miss Julie, and Interstellar.
