Jessica Mecklenburg is bringing a tale of social climbing and assumed identity to Amazon. The former “Stranger Things” co-executive producer will pen and EP a TV adaptation of Liv Constantine’s bestseller “The Last Mrs. Parrish.” Described as “‘The Hand That Rocks the Cradle’ meets ‘Single White Female,'” the thriller follows an ordinary woman as she tries to take over a Queen Bee’s perfect life. Deadline broke the news.
Cathy Schulman’s Welle Entertainment is among the drama series’ producers. Welle holds rights to the book, which was published in fall 2017.
Liv Constantine is a pen name used by sisters Lynne Constantine and Valerie Constantine. Their next novel, “The Last Time I Saw You,” tracing the aftermath of a high-society murder, hits shelves May 7. Lynne Constantine also writes under the pseudonym L.C. Shaw. Her first solo title, conspiracy thriller “The Network,” will be released in December.
Mecklenburg has written for “Stranger Things,” “Gypsy,” “Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams,” “Being Mary Jane,” and more. Most recently, the three-time WGA Award nominee served as co-exec producer on Jordan Peele’s “Twilight Zone” reboot.
“The Edge of Seventeen” and “Five Feet Apart” are among Schulman’s producing credits. As for her upcoming projects, she has optioned the rights to several women-written books via Welle. The Oscar winner is currently developing Julian Guthrie’s “Alpha Girls,” Robinne Lee’s “The Idea Of You,” and Lucy Thurber’s “Transfers,” among others.
