Sharon Horgan’s latest TV project, “Delilah,” will see “Happy Death Day” star Jessica Rothe playing a woman caught in the midst of some serious personal and familial drama. Deadline confirms WarnerMedia’s forthcoming HBO Max streaming platform has snagged the comedy “in a competitive situation.”

Executive produced by Horgan and Clelia Mountford, “Delilah” follows the titular character as she tries to move forward after a life-altering event. Her first course of action is to “introduce herself to a complete stranger who may or may not be her real father, and his family.” The source synopsizes, “The only question is: how much damage can one person do while trying to get their own life back on track? The answer is, quite a bit.”

Horgan and her “Dead Boss” co-star Aisling Bea originally wrote “Delilah” for the UK’s Channel 4. The network didn’t move forward with the project, but Kapital Entertainment eventually acquired the script. Kirker Butler (“Family Guy”) rewrote it for the U.S.

Rothe and Bea are also among the series’ EPs.

You can catch Rothe next in “Utopia,” Gillian Flynn’s upcoming Amazon series. Based on the UK series of the same name, the show is about a group who gets a hold of an underground comic that promises to save the world. “Forever My Girl,” “Mary + Jane,” and “La La Land” are among her other credits.

Horgan’s marriage tragicomedy “Catastrophe” ended its four-season run earlier this year. She created and starred in the hit Amazon series with Rob Delaney. “Divorce,” the HBO Sarah Jessica Parker-starrer she created, will conclude later this summer after three seasons.

The multi-hyphenate’s jam-packed upcoming slate includes “Frayed,” a series from comedian Sarah Kendall, an untitled self-help comedy for Amazon, and Phyllida Lloyd’s housing crisis drama “Herself.” You can see Horgan next in “Military Wives,” a feature drama about women who create a choir from their husbands’ military base. It’s currently in post-production.
