Jillian Bell and Isla Fisher to Topline Sharon Maguire Disney+ Comedy “Godmothered”

Bell in "Brittany Runs a Marathon"

Isla Fisher will wish upon a star to mixed results in a new Disney+ comedy. The “Blithe Spirit” star has signed on to topline “Godmothered” alongside Jillian Bell, who just received raves for her performance in “Brittany Runs a Marathon.” The pair will be directed by Sharon Maguire, best known for directing “Bridget Jones’s Diary” and “Bridget Jones’s Baby.” The Hollywood Reporter broke the news.

Penned by Kari Granlund and Melissa Stack, the live-action pic tells the story of “a young and unskilled fairy godmother (Bell) that ventures out on her own to prove her worth by tracking down a young girl whose request for help was ignored. What she discovers is that the girl has now become a grown woman (Fisher) in need of something very different than a ‘Prince Charming,'” the source hints.

Production is slated to kick off later this month in Boston.

“The Beach Bum,” “Arrested Development,” and “Tag” are among Fisher’s recent credits. Bell’s include “Sword of Trust,” “Rough Night,” and “Workaholics.”
