Trailblazing Women, the multi-year initiative by Turner Classic Movies (TCM) and Women in Film (WIF LA), kicked off last night with a month-long programming event.
As we previously reported, TCM and WIF LA’s partnership will highlight women’s historical contributions to cinema and promote gender parity behind the camera.
And now WIF LA is inviting viewers to take part in their #52FilmsByWomen campaign. The org is asking feminist cinephiles to commit to watching a woman-directed film once a week for a year and let the world know that female filmmakers are out there via Facebook or Twitter. Participants can curate a list on GoWatchIt or pull from one of the many lists of films by female writers and directors.
