The Girls Club’s next conversation will be with Linda Goldstein Knowlton, director of “We Are the Radical Monarchs,” the story of an Oakland-based alternative to the Girl Scouts. The founders and leaders of the Radical Monarchs, Anayvette Martinez and Marilyn Hollinquest, will also participate in the chat. It will take place Thursday, July 16, at 3 p.m. EST.
The Radical Monarchs teaches girls of color about social justice, civil rights history, LGBTQ allyship, consent, body image, and more. They attend events such as San Francisco Trans March and sport badges like “Black Lives Matter” and “Radical Beauty.”
“We Are the Radical Monarchs” follows the first troop of Radical Monarchs for over three years, until they graduate, and documents the Co-Founders struggle to respond to the needs of communities across the U.S. and grow the organization after the viral explosion of interest in the troop’s mission to create and inspire a new generation of social justice activists.
The Girls Club conversation with Knowlton, Martinez, and Hollinquest is open to the public. Remember to register in advance.
