Julia Ormond’s First US TV Starring Role in Witches of East End for Lifetime

nullJulia Ormond has had a varied and interesting career from roles in Legends of the Fall to David Lynch’s Inland Empire. Ormond has also had roles in many TV movies and miniseries and guest stints on shows like Nurse Jackie and Mad Men.

Ormond has signed on to star in Witches of East End for Lifetime. It will be her first starring US television role.

Based on the book by Melissa de la Cruz, it follows Joanna Beaucamp (Ormond) and her two adult daughters, Freya (Jenna Tatum-Dewan) and Ingrid (Rachel Boston) who all lead a pretty normal daily life. But unknown to Freya and Ingrid, they are the next generation of powerful witches. After Freya is engaged, weird things start happening, to which Joanna must tell her daughters the truth about who they are.  Mädchen Amick will be playing Joanna’s wild sister—who is also a witch.

Maggie Friedman, who has written for Eastwick and Dawson's Creek, wrote the pilot script.

Lifetime picked up 10 episodes of the show and plans to air them sometime later this year.
