Julianne Moore, Tessa Thompson, ‘A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night’ Win at Gotham Awards

Monday’s Gotham Independent Film Awards ceremony didn’t produce too many surprises.

Oscar frontrunners Julianne Moore and Laura Poitras took home the Best Actress and Best Documentary prizes, respectively, for Still Alice and CITIZENFOUR.

Ana Lily Amirpour’s festival favorite A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night received the Bingham Ray Breakthrough Director Award.

Dear White People actress Tessa Thompson, who’ll next appear in Ava DuVernay’s Selma, won the Breakthrough Actor honor.

The Native American-centered Songs My Brothers Taught Me, written and directed by Chloé Zhao, was granted $25,000 as part of the Spotlight on Women Filmmakers.
