Juliet Landau is still hanging out with the undead. The actress and director, best known for playing Drusilla, a vampire with psychic powers, on “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” has secured worldwide distribution for her feature directorial debut, “A Place Among the Dead.” Modern Films snagged rights to the film, which “uses the vampire genre to explore the repercussions of growing up under the sway of narcissism and evil.” Deadline broke the news.
Described as “a revealing and terrifying meld of fact, fiction, and the fantastical,” “A Place Among the Dead” follows “an actress/filmmaker by the name of Jules, who is driven by the demons of her past as she embarks on a journey at the potential cost of everything she knows and loves.”
Landau will star in the pic, which will feature “Interview with a Vampire” author Anne Rice in her first-ever movie role.
A preview event for “A Place Among the Dead” will launch on Halloween and the film will be released via PVOD November 9.
Landau also played Drusilla on “Angel,” “Buffy’s” spinoff series. She has a recurring role in “Claws'” upcoming fourth and final season. “Bosch” and “Ed Wood” are among her other acting credits.
