“Star Trek: Discovery” writer Kalinda Vazquez is heading on another adventure: she’s writing a “Star Trek” film for Paramount Pictures and Bad Robot. “Insiders said this is a blind deal for an original movie that she hatched, one that expands her role in the Trek Universe,” Deadline revealed. If this project moves forward, Vazquez will be the first woman to pen a “Star Trek” film.
The most recent “Star Trek” outing on the big screen was 2016’s “Star Trek Beyond,” which netted over $343 million worldwide.
Up next for Vazquez is HBO sci-fi series “Roadmarks,” and she recently adapted graphic novel “Barrier” for Legendary Television. “Fear the Walking Dead,” “Runaways,” and “Once Upon a Time” are among her credits as well. She’s also writing “America Chavez: Made in the USA” for Marvel, which marks the first time a Latinx LBGTQ Marvel superhero will get their own title comic series.
