Kate Winslet and her daughter Mia Threapleton are the latest actresses to delve into the “emotionally raw, thought-provoking, and personal” experiences of women. According to Deadline, they are joining the third season of Channel 4’s anthology series “I Am.” The show consists of three episodes per season; each installment is named after its lead character.

Winslet and Threapleton will appear in the series’ first feature-length episode, “I Am Ruth.” Filming is expected to begin at the end of the month. Additional casting and plot details are to be announced.

Each episode of “I Am” has “been developed in a creative partnership with the leading actors, with semi-improvised dialogue,” Deadline details. Its 2019 debut marked “Channel 4’s most successful new 10pm drama in six years.” Previous stars include Gemma Chan (“Eternals”), Letitia Wright (“Black Panther”), Samantha Morton (“The Walking Dead”), Lesley Manville (“Phantom Thread”), Suranne Jones (“Gentleman Jack”), and Vicky McClure (“Line of Duty”).

“It is a complete honor for me to be working and collaborating with Kate Winslet on this first film of the new series of ‘I Am’ for Channel 4,” said creator, writer, and director Dominic Savage. “Kate is such a legend, such an incredible and sublime acting talent, and I can’t wait to start shooting this unique and important story that we have created together.”

Winslet has won Emmys for her leading performances in “Mare of Easttown” and “Mildred Pierce.” A seven-time Oscar nominee, she took home a statuette for her turn in “The Reader.” Her upcoming projects include “Lee,” a biopic about war photographer Lee Miller from director Ellen Kuras.
