Katherine Langford is headed back to Netflix. The “13 Reasons Why” breakout has signed on to topline another coming-of-age series for the streamer, Variety confirms. “Cursed” sees the Golden Globe nominee playing Nimue, a teen heroine with a mysterious gift.
Described as a a re-imagining of the Arthurian legend, the series will be told through the eyes of Nimue, who is “destined to become the powerful (and tragic) Lady of the Lake,” the source hints. “Cursed’s” themes include “the obliteration of the natural world, religious terror, senseless war, and finding the courage to lead in the face of the impossible.”
An enchantress, the Lady of the Lake is perhaps best known in medieval literature and legends associated with King Arthur for giving Arthur his famed sword, Excalibur, and raising Lancelot after the death of his father.
Zetna Fuentes, whose directing credits include “The Chi,” “This Is Us,” and “Scandal,” is set to direct and serve as an executive producer on the first two episodes of “Cursed.”
Best known for her role as Hannah Baker in teen sensation “13 Reasons Why,” Langford’s other credits include “Love, Simon” and “The Misguided.”
