Katie Dippold’s writing future just got a little brighter. Her film The Heat, directed by Bridemaids‘ Paul Feig and starring Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy hasn’t even hit theaters yet, the confidence that both Chernin Entertainment and Fox have in the film — specifically moving the film smack dab into blockbuster season– have made Dippold a hot commodity.
Dippold, a former writer/producer on Parks and Recreation and a writer for Mad TV, has just nabbed a 7-figure deal with Chernin Entertainment to write another comedy project for them. Details are still scarce but it has been described as a “mother/daughter action comedy.” The project is also set to be another collaboration between Dippold and Feig, with Feig directing.
The Heat, Dippold’s feature debut as a screenwriter, hits theaters on June 28.
