Keira Knightley is set to portray yet another influential writer. Two of her most recent offerings, 2018’s “Colette” and 2020’s “Misbehaviour,” saw her playing women of letters, and now she’s signed on to topline “Boston Strangler,” a 20th Century Studios drama that tells the story of Loretta McLaughlin, “the first reporter to connect the murders and break the story of the Strangler,” Deadline details.

McLaughlin “and fellow reporter Jean Cole challenged the sexism of the early 1960s to report on the city’s most notorious serial killer and worked tirelessly to keep women informed. Loretta pursued the story at great personal risk and uncovered corruption that cast doubt on the true identity of the Boston Strangler,” the source details.

“Colette” saw Knightley playing the titular character, the French author behind 1944 French novella “Gigi,” later the basis of an Oscar-winning film, and she played Sally Alexander, a feminist activist and academic who was a founding editor of of Oxford University Press’  History Workshop Journal, in “Misbehaviour.” You can catch the two-time Oscar nominee next in “Silent Night,” Camille Griffin’s feature directorial debut. The holiday-themed comedy hits theaters December 3.
