Kerry Washington’s movie career is taking off.
In addition to starring in director Elizabeth Allen’s upcoming rom com Is He the One, the Emmy-nominated Scandal actress is close to signing on to Unforgettable, the Warner Bros. thriller that will be Amma Asante’s follow-up to Belle. The film is about all the pressures that come with being a woman today, from society and from ourselves. It’s also about finding out who you are.
It disturbs us that the description of the film circulating has the women — the film has two female leads — pitted against each other fighting over a man. Please. I just don’t see Amma Asante directing that kind of film, and I don’t see Kerry Washington acting in a film that is so full of age old stereotypes.
Kate Hudson is in talks for the other female lead.
Unforgettable is written by Christina Hodson and produced by Denise DiNovi and Alison Greenspan.
