Eve and Villanelle’s toxic love story is adding another chapter. “Killing Eve” has been renewed for a fourth season by BBC America months ahead of its Season 3 premiere, Deadline confirms.
“How could we not have massive confidence in ‘Killing Eve?'” said Sarah Barnett, president of AMC Networks Entertainment Group and AMC Studios. “It has won big in every major award show and is the highest-growing show on U.S. television for six years.”
Created by “Fleabag’s” Phoebe Waller-Bridge, the Emmy-winning spy thriller sees MI5 officer Eve Polastri (Sandra Oh) attempting to take down psychopathic assassin Villanelle (Jodie Comer). The pair share a mutual obsession for one another, leaving audiences — and themselves — wondering “will they or won’t they” hook up and/or kill each other.
Waller-Bridge served as lead writer on Season 1 of “Killing Eve,” with Emerald Fennell (“Promising Young Woman”) taking over the role in Season 2 and Suzanne Heathcote (“Fear the Walking Dead”) in Season 3, which will debut this spring. The source notes that a new female scribe will be named lead writer for Season 4.
