Kristen Schaal Sells Animated Comedy Pilot ‘Fancy Bastards’ to MTV

One of the busiest women in TV might finally get her own show.

Kristen Schaal — who appears on the Fox comedy “Last Man on Earth,” voices the Fox animated sitcom “Bob’s Burgers” and occasionally pops up on Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” — has sold an animated comedy pilot to MTV. Called “Fancy Bastards,” the series centers on a quintet of pariahs in a small town who realize they all share a father — a prince. The voice cast includes Brittany Snow, Sharon Osbourne, Kelly Osbourne, Natasha Leggero, Nasim Pedrad, John Roberts, Jameeliah Garrett and Jessica Lowe.

Schaal and Jason Micallef would serve as executive producers.

Evidently quite popular in the TV comedy world, “Fancy Bastards” would be only the second show that Schaal has produced, other than the pilot of Amazon’s “Supanatural,” which wasn’t picked up for a full season. Based on her loopy but proudly feminist “Daily Show” segments, we’re definitely interested in more of what Schaal has to say.
