Kristen Stewart is teaming up with Rose Glass on her next project. The Oscar-nominated “Spencer” star is saying goodbye to Buckingham Palace and hello to the world of female bodybuilding in “Love Lies Bleeding,” Glass’ follow-up to 2019’s “Saint Maud.” The feature is being backed by A24 and Film 4. The Hollywood Reporter broke the news.
Written by Glass and Weronika Tofilska, the pic is being described as “a romance fueled by ego, desire, and the American dream.” Stewart will play the “protective lover” of a female bodybuilder. No word on who will co-star with the “Twilight” alumna, but filmmakers are hoping to cast the role “as authentically as possible, with the search currently underway,” per THR.
“Happiest Season,” “Underwater,” and “Charlie’s Angels” are among Stewart’s recent credits.
Glass made her feature debut with “Saint Maud,” a psychological horror story about a hospice nurse who becomes obsessed with saving her patient’s soul. The film was nominated for a BAFTA for outstanding British film of the year and outstanding debut by a British writer, director, or producer. Glass received the Douglas Hickox Award for best debut director at the British Independent Film Awards.
