Krysten Ritter is following up her role as a reluctant do-gooder in Marvel’s “Jessica Jones” by embracing the darkness within. She’s reuniting with her “Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23” creator Nahnatchka Khan for a new dark comedy about a serial killer. The pair are teaming up with Angela LaManna, a writer from “The Punisher,” on the highly sought-after series “which has been heating up the premium marketplace,” according to Deadline.
Hailing from Universal Television, the untitled project has “sparked a bidding war” with interested parties including Netflix, Amazon, FX, and HBO Max. Ritter will star in the series, which is based Charles Warady’s upcoming book “Serial Killer Anonymous.”
Ritter, Khan, and LaManna are among the hot property’s exec producers.
“Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23” aired for two seasons on ABC. Khan also created ABC’s “Fresh Off the Boat,” currently in its sixth and final season. Ritter-led “Jessica Jones” ran on Netflix for three seasons. LaManna’s other credits include “Hannibal” and “Channel Zero.”
Ritter told us that she’s “drawn to unconventional representations of women.” The “Breaking Bad” alumna explained “empowered and unconventional is always what I’m looking for, because I’m those two things in a way.”
