“Terminator Genisys” screenwriter and executive producer Laeta Kalogridis is taking the next step in her relationship with Skydance Media. Deadline reports that she has inked an exclusive, multi-year overall agreement for television production with the studio behind “Altered Carbon,” an upcoming Netflix series she conceived and is writing and producing. Kalogridis previously signed a first-look consulting deal with Skydance.
Kalogridis’ writing credits include “Shutter Island,” “Bionic Woman,” and “Birds of Prey,” all of which she executive produced. She also served as an EP on “Avatar” and “White House Down,” and currently works as an EP on Skydance TV’s “Sword Art Online.”
“Laeta is truly a visionary talent and we are incredibly honored that she has elected to make Skydance her creative home,” commented Skydance’s Chief Executive Officer, David Ellison. “Both ‘Altered Carbon’ and ‘Sword Art Online’ are epic stories that span massive worlds, and I can think of no greater artist than Laeta to bring these two series to the screen.”
“David and the entire team at Skydance have been so good to me over the last couple of years, giving me a great deal of artistic license and creative freedom to see the vision for my projects come to life, and I am beyond excited to extend this partnership into the future,” said Kalogridis.
Netflix hasn’t announced a premiere date for “Altered Carbon” yet. Set in the 25th century, the sci-fi series centers on an interstellar warrior who is tasked with solving a murder.
Earlier this year “UnREAL” co-creator Marti Noxon signed a seven-figure, three-year deal with Skydance to create and develop new projects.
