The directorial debut from Lana Wilson and Martha Shane, After Tiller, has been picked up by Oscilloscope Laboratories.
The documentary, which premiered at Sundance, looks at the state of third trimester abortions post-the 2009 murder of Dr. George Tiller. Only four doctors, former colleagues of Tiller, perform the procedure in the country.
O-Scope’s Dan Berger and David Laub commented on the pickup.
Martha and Lana have created a moving and unique exploration of one of the most incendiary topics of our time, and they’ve done so in an informative, thought-provoking, and compassionate way. We were so impressed with their ability to present such a controversial issue with such respect and complexity, allowing the film to resonate equally for people both for and against the procedure.
O-Scope plans to theatrically release the film as well as a VOD release. Kudos to O-Scope for always picking up thoughtful, interesting and complex women-directed and centric projects.
