Laura Poitras’ ‘Citizenfour,’ Rory Kennedy’s ‘Last Days in Vietnam’ Make Oscar Doc Shortlist

Three political documentaries and a nonfiction yarn about art forgery represent female documentarians’ contributions to the 2015 Oscar doc shortlist.

Four women-directed works will be eligible for the official list of nonfiction nominees:

“Art and Craft,” Purple Parrot Films — Co-directed by Jennifer Grausman
“Citizen Koch,” Elsewhere Films — Co-directed by Tia Lessin
“CitizenFour,” Praxis Films — Laura Poitras
“Last Days in Vietnam,” Moxie Firecracker Films — Rory Kennedy

We’re a bit surprised that neither Stephanie Soechtig’s sugar exposé Fed Up or Katy Chevigny and Ross Kauffman’s E-Team made the cut, but we’re happy for these women directors who did.
