Leslie Bennetts to Write Joan Rivers Biography

In the days since her death, Joan Rivers has been publicly eulogized by friends and protégés like Kathy Bates, Louis C.K., and Howard Stern.

Now the trailblazing comedienne is set to receive a thorough chronicling from former Vanity Fair writer Leslie Bennetts. The NY Times reports that Bennetts, a former reporter for that paper, will write a biography of Rivers based on “interviews with other comedians as well as friends and business associates.”

It will be published in 2016.

Bennetts commented that “Rivers’s career was… enormously significant in American cultural history, breaking down barriers for women in television and comedy and continually redefining the acceptable boundaries of truth-telling for women in public life.”
