Lisa Langseth Has a Netflix Series on the Way

Lisa Langseth is bringing “Love & Anarchy” to Netflix. The streamer has commissioned the eight-part Swedish drama from the “Euphoria” filmmaker, Deadline confirms.

“Love & Anarchy” tells the story of Sofie, “a career driven consultant and married mother of two. When Sofie gets an assignment to modernize an old publishing house she meets young IT tech Max, and an unexpected flirting game begins,” the source hints. “Sofie and Max secretly challenge each other to do things that question modern day life. It starts innocently enough, but as the game gets more and more daring the consequences grow beyond proportions.”

Langseth, who created the series, will serve as head writer alongside Alex Haridi.

“This has been my dream project for a long time. After working with this story alone in my basement I am so immensely glad to see it present itself together with a fantastic team. I have the best job in the world,” said Langseth.

“We instantly fell in love with this female-led project,” added Tesha Crawford, Director of International Originals, Netflix Northern Europe. She emphasized that “Love & Anarchy “follows a strong female character.”

All three of Langseth’s features — 2010’s “Pure,” 2013’s “Hotel,” and 2017’s “Euphoria” — have starred Oscar winner Alicia Vikander, who was last seen in “Tomb Raider.”

“The amount of people who want to tell you how to make a film is extremely huge. Make sure you do the stories you really want to do, and only surround yourself with people who want to go in the same direction as you,” Langseth urged when we asked her advice for other women filmmakers. “Don’t try to adapt to what people call ‘the business.’ Films can be made in many ways  —  find your way. The world of film needs people going their own way.”
