Lisa Taddeo’s No. 1 New York Times bestseller “Three Women” is coming to the small screen. In a competitive bidding war for the highly esteemed nonfiction book, Showtime landed the drama with a series commitment, Deadline reports.
Taddeo is set to write and exec produce the adaptation, which tells stories of three American women suffering backlash for their sexual desires. The series will follow a multigenerational formula, centering on women in their 20s, 30s, and 40s. Lead characters include a mother in her 30s, a 23-year-old trauma survivor, and a restaurant owner, each of whom are facing dilemmas in relation to sex.
“There are a number of A-list actresses interested in playing one of the roles,” the source reveals.
Taddeo has received the William Holodnok fiction prize and the Florence Engel Randall Award in fiction, and is a two-time winner of the Pushcart Prize. She has been or will be published in Esquire, New York Magazine, Elle, Glamour, and The New York Observer, among other outlets.
Showtime’s other upcoming projects include a series based on Joyce Carol Oates’ 2017 novel “A Book of American Martyrs” and Lena Waithe’s comedy pilot “How To Make Love To A Black Woman (Who May Be Working Through Some Sh*t).”
