Scherfig: The Movie Times/YouTube

Lone Scherfig is set to be honored at the Evolution Mallorca International Film Festival (EMIFF), per Screen Daily. The award-winning Danish filmmaker, who is currently in post-production on her latest feature, “The Movie Teller,” will receive the Evolution Vision award at the 11th edition of the fest, slated to take place October 26 to November 1.

Best known for helming 2009 Carey Mulligan-starrer “An Education,” Scherfig’s other credits include “Italian For Beginners,” which won the Silver Bear jury grand prix award at Berlin, and “One Day,” a romance led by Anne Hathaway. Her most recent feature, “The Kindness of Strangers,” debuted in 2019.

“The Movie Teller” is set in Chile and centers on a girl who lives in a village where most folks can’t afford tickets to the cinema. She becomes the resident movie teller, re-telling the stories of movies that she’s seen. No word on a release date yet.

EMIFF is also honoring “Only You” actress Laia Costa. She’ll accept the fest’s Evolution New Talent award.
