Writer-director Lorene Scafaria (“Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist,” “Seeking a Friend for the End of the World”) has booked her next film.
Susan Sarandon will play Marnie Minervini, a “recent widow and eternal optimist” who moves to Los Angeles to be closer to her adult daughter (presumably co-star Rose Byrne). Marnie finds a new lease on life in LA, finding new friends, life goals, and even a romance (possibly with J.K. Simmons).
Despite her up-to-date resume, Sarandon hasn’t enjoyed a starring role in awhile, so it’ll be great to see her take the limelight again. And Scafaria’s script sounds rather similar to Anne Fletcher’s Barbra Streisand vehicle “The Guilt Trip,” a movie we rather enjoyed, so we’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for “The Meddler.”
