“Lumberjanes” Animated Series in the Works at HBO Max from Noelle Stevenson

"Lumberjanes"

Miss Quinzella Thiskwin Penniquiqul Thilstle Crumpet’s Camp for Hardcore Lady Types is coming to HBO Max. The streamer scored rights to a series adaptation of “Lumberjanes” in a bidding war. The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the news.

Based on the award-winning comic book of the same name, “Lumberjanes” tells the story of April, Jo, Mal, Molly, and Ripley, five friends who meet at summer camp. “Their differences isn’t the only thing they have to canoe around as the girls soon discover there are mysterious and supernatural forces afoot,” the source teases.

Noelle Stevenson, who co-created the book alongside Shannon Watters, Grace Ellis, and Brooklyn A. Allen, is writing and exec producing the adaptation. She previously served as showrunner on Netflix’s “She-Ra and the Princesses of Power,” which she also created.

“The project is in development at the streamer, and should it venture forward, would launch with an animated special that would lead into a series. Stevenson would direct the special and some of the episodes,” THR details.

Since launching in 2014, “Lumberjanes” has run for over 70 issues and 13 graphic novels, and has been recognized by the GLAAD Awards and Eisner Awards.
