Madeline Brewer Signs on Lola Blanc’s “Pruning”

Brewer in "Cam"

Madeline Brewer is stepping out of Gilead and entering another nightmare in “Pruning.” The Emmy nominee has signed on to star in Lola Blanc’s psychological horror pic about a far-right political commentator who “discovers that her rhetoric has inspired a mass shooting.” Deadline broke the news.

Written by Blanc and Jeremy Radin, “Pruning” explores how Sami (Brewer) must “contend with the part of herself that has a conscience” following the tragedy she’s in part responsible for.

Prior to her Emmy-nominated role as Janine on “The Handmaid’s Tale,” Brewer had a recurring role on “Orange is the New Black.” Her film credits include “Hustlers” and “Cam.”

Blanc’s other credits include “In Other Words,” a short about former lovers who make a truce.
