Maiwenn’s Poliss Scores 13 Cesar Nominations Including Best Director and Best Picture

The Maiwenn directed film Poliss scored the most Cesar nominations — 13 — including best picture, best screenplay and best director.

But you wouldn’t know it from this breaking news alert I got from The Hollywood Reporter. You’d think that The Artist was the story, because that is the narrative the Hollywood wants to promote. But that’s not the case.

So just to be clear: Poliss got 13 nominations, The Artist 10.

Valerie Donzelli’s Declaration of War (which opens in the US today) also got multiple nominations also including best picture, best screenplay and best director.

So that means the Cesar’s have two women nominated for best director.

That’s way better than here in the US.

Full list of nominees.
