A documentary about Malala Yousafzai, the Pakistani teenager who survived an assassination attempt at age 14 for advocating girls’ education, is one step closer to getting made.
Socially conscious Participant Media, which previously released The Square and The Unknown Known, has boarded the project as a co-financier alongisde Image Nation. The doc will be directed by Davis Guggenheim (Waiting for Superman, An Inconvenient Truth).
Yousafzai was shot in the head and neck by the Taliban in 2012 for speaking in favor of educating girls in her community. She has continued her own schooling in Britain and continues to act as a spokesperson for girls’ and women’s rights.
