Maya Rudolph is about to make it rain. The Emmy winner will play a jilted billionaire in an as-yet untitled half-hour comedy series, which has been ordered at Apple. Variety confirmed the news.
The “Saturday Night Live” will star as Molly, a woman whose “seemingly perfect life is upended after her husband leaves her with nothing but 87 billion dollars.” Alan Yang and Matt Hubbard, who previously collaborated with Rudolph on “Forever,” created the show.
Rudolph will executive produce, as will her Animal Pictures producing partners Natasha Lyonne and Danielle Renfrew Behrens. The studio is Universal Television.
“Big Mouth,” “Bless the Harts,” and “Sarah Cooper: Everything’s Fine” are among Rudolph’s more recent credits. She took home two Emmys last year: one for portraying Kamala Harris on “SNL,” the other for her voice performance in “Big Mouth.”
