Megan Ellison Leads PGA Awards Nominations

The Producers Guild of America, an industry group that predicts and influences the Oscar nominees more often than not, announced the ten films in the running for its annual awards.

Wunderkind producer Megan Ellison leads the pack with two nominations for her work on Her and American Hustle. Every other producer whose film was shortlisted for the PGA Awards received one.

Seven of the ten nominated films had at least one female producer. Three of the award hopefuls — Blue Jasmine, Gravity, and Saving Mr. Banks — featured a woman protagonist. The female-centric Gravity, practically a one-woman film, was produced by two men.
