Megan Park Teams Up with Margot Robbie’s LuckyChap Entertainment for Next Feature, “My Old Ass”

Park: Alex Evans

Megan Park has lined up her follow-up to SXSW winner “The Fallout,” her directorial debut. The “Secret Life of the American Teenager” actress will tackle another coming-of-age story with “My Old Ass.” A press release announced that she’s teaming up with Margot Robbie’s LuckyChap Entertainment and Indian Paintbrush on the project, which “will begin casting soon and is expected to start filming this summer.”

Penned by Park, “The Fallout” tells the story of a teenage girl (Jenna Ortega, “You”) struggling to heal in the aftermath of a school shooting. Maddie Ziegler (“Music”) co-stars.

Asked why she was drawn to making “The Falling,” Park told us, “I sat down to write the film after almost a year of wanting to talk about the subject of school shootings. I was upset and enraged and really scared. I knew I didn’t want to make a movie that would ever incite more violence or be triggering to anyone who had been through this experience — I felt a huge responsibility to do it justice but to also make it really honest,” she emphasized. “I also felt that if I was a teenager right now, I’d be terrified to go to school every day. I wanted to tell that side of the story.”

The film took home the the grand jury award in the narrative feature competition at SXSW 2021. It launched on HBO Max in January.

The plot of “My Old Ass” hasn’t been revealed just yet. Park penned its script.

Robbie’s credits as a producer include “Promising Young Woman,” “Birds of Prey,” and “I, Tonya.” She received an Oscar nom for starring in the latter, as well as for her supporting role in “Bombshell.”
