Melissa McCarthy Developing Family Comedy Series for Fox

Melissa McCarthy in “Ghostbusters”: Sony

Though her hit comedy series “Mike and Molly” was cancelled, Melissa McCarthy isn’t leaving the TV world any time soon. According to Variety, McCarthy is developing a family comedy for Fox as an executive producer, along with Ben Falcone, her husband and producing partner.

As Variety writes, “The untitled half-hour, single-cam comedy follows an unconventional family that is formed when a successful type-A man and his estranged sister, plus her two children, find themselves not only back in each other’s lives but also living under one roof.”

This project marks McCarthy’s second TV project in the works. “Nobodies,” a scripted comedy about comedians trying to make it big, was also recently greenlit by TV Land. McCarthy will also appear on the Netflix revival of “Gilmore Girls.”

On the big screen, McCarthy starred in the all-female “Ghostbusters” reboot this summer, and has comedy flick “Life of the Party” and “Can You Ever Forgive Me?” from “The Diary of a Teenage Girl” writer-director Marielle Heller coming up.
