Melora Walters is re-teaming with Mira Sorvino. She’ll direct the Oscar winner and co-star with her in indie drama “Drowning.” Deadline confirmed the news.
Based on Walters’ own experience, the pic sees a woman’s young son decide to join the Army and fight in Iraq, “Drowning” depicts “a mother’s worst nightmare, compounded by the fact that he’s then stationed in Mosul for the ‘final battle,'” the source summarizes.
Walters and Sorvino previously collaborated on the former’s feature directorial debut, “Waterlily Jaguar.” The psychological drama opened 2018 DTLA Film Festival.
“Big Love,” “Magnolia,” and “Venom” are among Walters’ acting credits. Sorvino won an Oscar for “Mighty Aphrodite.” Her recent credits include “Spy Kids: Mission Critical,” “Modern Family,” and “StartUp.”
