Meryl Streep Covers Vogue for the First Time

A rockin 62 year old woman on the cover of Vogue. What is this world coming to? I totally can’t wait to read the whole interview (and this will be the first Vogue I have purchased in a loooong time) but the one quote that got put in the press release was that when she hit 40 she was offered parts as a witch three times and she told her husband that she thought her career is over and that women her age were viewed as “grotesque on some level.”

The good news is that things have changed a bit in 20 years since I don’t think that either Charlize Theron or Julia Roberts who will both be playing witches next year in the dueling Snow White movies would be viewed as “grotesque” in any sense of the word.

Meryl used the cover story to raise awareness about her passion project — The National Women’s History Museum. It is rumored that Streep donated the $1 million she made on The Iron Lady to the museum to fulfill her pledge.

PS — She’s the oldest woman who has ever been on the cover.
