NAACP Image Awards: “Insecure,” “Black and Missing,” and More

"Insecure"

Issa Rae just landed another NAACP Image Award. The budding media mogul received the honor for Outstanding Writing in a Comedy Series for “Insecure’s” series finale, “Everything’s Gonna Be, Okay?!” She was named Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series for her work on the dearly departed HBO show at last year’s edition of the awards.

A six-time Emmy nominee, Rae signed an eight-figure overall deal with WarnerMedia last year. The “Photograph” star was recently named as this year’s recipient of the PGA Awards’ Visionary Award.

The NAACP is rolling out winners this week in the lead-up to Saturday’s main show. “Winners in non-televised award categories will be announced starting at 5 p.m. PT every night this week on naacpimageawards.net and the NAACP Image Awards YouTube channel, leading up to the televised ceremony on Saturday, February 26,” which “BET will air live at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET,” Deadline explains.

Other winners so far include Devita Scarlett, who was recognized in the Outstanding Writing in a Drama Series category for Paramount+ legal drama “The Good Fight,” and Samantha Knowles, Yoruba Richen, Geeta Gandbhir, and Nadia Hallgren, who were honored for their work on “Black and Missing,” a four-part HBO documentary that investigates the racial disparity in police resources and media attention given to missing persons cases.
