“Fresh Off the Boat” showrunner Nahnatchka Khan is joining forces with with “ Son of Zorn” showrunner Sally Bradford McKenna for a “high-concept” Fox comedy, The Hollywood Reporter writes. The untitled, single-camera workplace project “has landed at the network with a significant penalty attached.”

The comedy, hailing from 20th Century Fox Television, is “set within a mysterious company that claims to help change people’s lives — but in unconventional and sometimes even disturbing ways.” McKenna will write the script as well as executive produce with Khan. Both are under overall deals at 20th Century Fox Television, which produces “Fresh off the Boat.”

In September, it was revealed that Khan is producing a comedy based on the life of “Fresh Off the Boat” producer Kourtney Kang. Kang is penning the script for the NBC project. Khan also sold a pitch, “Hair Wars,” to Fox 2000 in July. Written by Khan, the feature will be based on a real competition where salons compete against each other.

“Fresh Off the Boat,” a sitcom about a Taiwanese family living in the U.S. in the 1990s, is currently in its third season on ABC. The series is loosely based on the life of restaurateur Eddie Huang. When asked what drew her to tell the story, Kahn said, “I loved being able to talk about the first-generation experience. I really related to the experiences Eddie wrote about: having parents who are immigrants but being born here with siblings, and being that bridge between the old and the new schools,” she explained. “I’d never seen a family sitcom deal with that.”

“Son of Zorn” airs on Fox, and the live-action/animated sitcom hybrid is in its first season.
