The Nantucket Film Festival (NFF) is celebrating women scribes. The fest announced an all-female slate of honorees and focus for the 2019 Screenwriters Tribute, one of NFF’s tentpole events.
“Saturday Night Live” writers and performers Jane Curtin, Anne Beatts, Sudi Green, and Sarah Schneider will be receive the Creative Impact in Television Award. “In a writer’s room that has been often seen as a boy’s club, these women have distinguished themselves with notable and hilarious wit, sketches, jokes, deliveries, and performances,” the a press release from NFF notes. “SNL’s” Cecily Strong will present them with the honor.
“Hairspray” actresses Brittany Snow and Nikki Blonsky will present screenwriter and film producer Leslie Dixon with the Screenwriters Tribute Award, given in recognition of a screenwriter whose career has had “a direct impact on the landscape of cinema.” Besides “Hairspray,” Dixon’s other credits include “Limitless,” “Freaky Friday,” and “Mrs Doubtfire.”
