Natalie Portman was one of the people who was most excited about Patty Jenkins getting the gig to direct Thor 2. When that fell through one could imagine that she might still be interested in working with a female director. Well it looks like she will get the chance.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, she is now attached to star in the Black List script Jane Got a Gun to be directed by Lynne Ramsay. The project is now being shopped at Cannes.
Here’s the description:
Jane Got a Gun centers on a woman whose outlaw husband returns home riddled with bullet wounds and barely alive. When her husband’s gang eventually tracks him down to finish the job, she is forced to reach out to an ex-lover and ask if he will help defend her farm.
Portman has Terence Malick’s next two films on her agenda Lawless (which is filming) and Knights of Cups, as well as Thor 2. Next up for Ramsay is a piece she directed for the London Olympics. Hopefully both can make time really soon for Jane Got a Gun.
