Natalie Wood is being paid tribute to by her nearest and dearest in a new documentary. A press release from HBO Documentary Films announced that production has kicked off on “Natalie Wood: What Remains Behind,” a doc exploring the late actress’ life and career from the perspective of her daughter, Natasha Gregson Wagner, and other loved ones.
Set to feature Wood’s previously unseen home movies, photographs, and diaries, as well as candid conversations with her friends, family, and co-stars, the doc is set to premiere on HBO in 2020.
Wood received Oscar nods for her roles in “Rebel Without a Cause,” “Splendor in the Grass,” and “Love with the Proper Stranger.” “Miracle on 34th Street,” “West Side Story,” and “Gypsy” are among her other credits. She died in 1981 at the age of 43 after drowning under mysterious circumstances.
Hailing from Amblin Television, “Natalie Wood: What Remains Behind” is directed by Laurent Bouzereau (“Five Came Back”).
“I’m looking forward to working with HBO, Amblin Television, and our director, Laurent Bouzereau, to create this unprecedented portrait of a woman who was an actress, a legend, and ultimately, my mother,” said Wagner.
