New Doc About Pregnancy and Immigration in Trump’s America Available to Stream for Free

“An Uncertain Future”

As part of their “100 Days” initiative, Field of Vision and Firelight Media have released “An Uncertain Future,” a press release announced. Chelsea Hernandez and Iliana Sosa’s short documentary explores pregnancy, parenthood, and immigration in the U.S. today.

“An Uncertain Future,” which became available online today, centers on two pregnant women living in Austin and how they are personally affected by the Trump administration’s racist, anti-immigration policies. “Ruth, who is undocumented, worries that she and her husband will be deported and separated from their newborn and three older children,” the press release details. “Cristina, a U.S. citizen, fears that her undocumented husband could be whisked away at a moment’s notice. Meanwhile, an ongoing battle in the Texas legislature leaves the fate of the children of deported immigrants up in the air.”

Hernandez and Sosa’s film is the third project released via the “100 Days” initiative. The documentary shorts program, co-produced by “Citizenfour” and “Risk” director Laura Poitras, supports filmmakers as they “explore threats to U.S. democracy and tell the stories of targeted communities in the current highly polarized political climate.” Previously, “100 Days” released “An Act of Worship,” a behind-the-scenes look at Muslim civil rights organization the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) co-directed by Nausheen Dadabhoy, and Cecilia Aldarondo’s workers rights doc “Picket Line.”

You can watch “An Uncertain Future” at Fusion or Field of Vision.
