Tina Turner is one of the best-selling artists of all time, but The Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll has never been the subject of a feature-length documentary — until now. Variety reports that the “What’s Love Got To Do With It” singer will step in front of the camera for “Tina Turner.” The project was announced to buyers at Cannes Film Market. Altitude is handling international sales and will distribute the doc in the U.K. and Ireland.

Directed by Dan Lindsay and TJ Martin ( “LA 92”), “Tina Turner” features previously unseen footage of the 12-time Grammy winner and interviews with Turner and others.

Turner’s life served as the inspiration for 1993’s “What’s Love Got to Do with It,” a feature starring Angela Bassett. The icon’s story is also being told on the stage. “Tina: The Tina Turner Musical” opened last month in London. The production is directed by Phyllida Lloyd (“The Iron Lady”) and written by Katori Hall (“Hurt Village”).

In 1986 Turner released her autobiography, “I, Tina.” In it, she detailed growing up on a farm in Tennessee, her rise to fame, and the abuse she endured from ex-husband and former collaborator Ike Turner.

Turner’s career has spanned six decades. Her albums include “Private Dancer,” “Break Every Rule,”  and “Foreign Affair.”
