Nicole Holofcener’s “Beth & Don” Acquired by A24, Julia Louis-Dreyfus Stars

Louis-Dreyfus and James Gandolfini in Holofcener's "Enough Said"

A24 has acquired North American rights to Nicole Holofcener and Julia Louis Dreyfus’ latest collaboration, “Beth & Don.” The deal went down at the American Film Market, per Variety.

Written by Holofcener, the comedy tells the story of a New York novelist whose happy marriage takes a turn when she overhears her husband criticizing her work. “Beth & Don” is slated to start production in early 2022.

Holofcener and Louis-Dreyfus previously paired up on “Enough Said,” a critically acclaimed 2013 comedy about soon-to-be empty nester who discovers that her new boyfriend and new friend are exes.

The winner of 11 Emmy Awards, Louis-Dreyfus has taken home honors for “Veep,” “The New Adventures of Old Christine,” and “Seinfeld.” “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” and “Onward” are among her recent credits.

Holofcener made her feature debut with 1996’s “Walking and Talking.” Her other feature credits as a writer and director include “Please Give” and “Friends with Money.” She co-wrote the scripts for Melissa McCarthy-starrer “Can You Ever Forgive Me?” and historical epic “The Last Duel.” The former earned her an Oscar nod and the latter is in theaters now.
