Niecy Nash Late-Night Pilot Ordered by TNT

Nash in "Claws"

Wish you could spend more time hanging out with Desna at Nail Artisans? If “Claws” leaves you wanting more Niecy Nash, you’re in luck. The cabler behind the nail salon dramedy just ordered a pilot for “Naked with Niecy Nash,” a late-night series hosted and exec produced by the two-time Emmy nominee. The series would see Nash “offer advice on love, sex, romance, and relationships with everyday people,” according to Variety.

Sue Murphy (“Chelsea”) is signed on to serve as showrunner and exec producer on the pilot. If ordered to series, “Naked with Niecy Nash” would mark TNT’s first-ever late-night series. “Nash would also be one of only two female late-night hosts on network TV, with the other being Samantha Bee, who hosts ‘Full Frontal’ on fellow Turner network TBS,” the source notes.

“I’m so excited to add my voice to the late-night landscape,” said Nash. “Love is the thing we were created for but it’s also the place we struggle the most… until now! This is going to be a fun and sexy ride! TNT is the perfect partner for me in this endeavor! Adding an experienced and amazing executive producer and showrunner like Sue Murphy to this mix was the cherry on top.”

Added Sarah Aubrey, executive vice president of original programming at TNT, “Niecy’s award-nominated work in our hit series, ‘Claws,’ doesn’t even begin to cover the range of talent she can bring to television. Her improvisational skills, laugh-out-loud sense of humor, honesty, and thoughtfulness about the subjects of love and relationships made her book, ‘It’s Hard to Fight Naked,’ a best-seller, and make Sue Murphy and Niecy Nash the perfect team to bring this type of playful show to TNT. Despite the title, Niecy will be doing the pilot fully-clothed.”

Nash stars in TNT’s “Claws,” which aired its second season finale last week. The crime story about a nail salon owner who helps launder money for the mob has already been renewed for a third installment.

“[We’re] playing these women who are very forward and aggressive sexually. They are unapologetic in their behavior and their womanness,” Nash has said of “Claws.” “I mean it’s … girl power at its finest, you know. All seeking to claw their way out from underneath some or all of these men … in our underworld.”

Nash earned two Emmy nods for her work on HBO’s “Getting On.” Her other credits include “Reno 911,” “Scream Queens,” and “The Soul Man.” She’s also hosted a talk show, Yahoo’s “Let’s Talk About Love.”
