“Speechless” writer-producer Niki Schwartz-Wright has a new project in development at NBC. She’s penning the half-hour comedy, titled “Exes in Law,” and is among its exec producers, according to Deadline.
Inspired by its creator’s real-life experience, the series centers on Tess and Alex who, following an epic break-up, vow never to see one another again. Imagine their surprise when they discover that their younger siblings — who also happen to be their best friends — have been secretly dating and are planning to get married. “Now, not only do they have to see each other again, they’re about to be family,” the source summarizes.
Universal TV is the studio behind the project.
Currently co-executive producer on the upcoming NBC series “Abby’s,” a bar comedy starring Natalie Morales (“Parks and Recreation”), Schwartz-Wright’s other credits include “The Office,” “The Goldbergs,” and “The Grinder.”
