Awards, Women Producers

Nomination Reaction

I was able to get in touch with Alix Madigan Yorkin, producer of Winter’s Bone to get her reaction on her four nominations, including a best picture nod.

We are beyond excited about being nominated, especially given the caliber of films that are in the best picture category. WINTER’S BONE has been such an incredible ride for all of us — Anne (Rosellini) and I were reminiscing today about we were hoping that we would get some sort of theatrical distribution just a year ago! What happened today exceeded our wildest expectations.

How about them apples? They went from not having any idea if they would get distribution to the Oscar dance. Should give home to any, and every filmmaker out there with a dream to tell a story.

If you are in NYC on February 11th, Winter’s Bone will be playing at The Athena Film Festival and director and co-writer Debra Granik and producer and co-writer Anne Rosellini will participate in a q and a following the screening conducted by Anne Thompson of Thompson on Hollywood. Tickets here.
