The Fox Global Directors Initiative is hosting a special screening of Kimberly Levin’s “Runoff” on Saturday, June 27, at the Village Cinema Theatre in NYC, and Women and Hollywood’s readers are invited to attend.
The drama, Levin’s directorial debut, focuses on a desperate woman struggling to keep her family’s farm and business intact in the wake of corporate farming and an economic recession.
Indiewire praised “Runoff” for being “as gorgeous as it is relevant.” “I wanted the film to have an observational quality,” Levin told Women and Hollywood in a recent interview. “The way that we shot, with long, choreographed takes, allows the audience to watch things unfold and gives you a sense that you’re experiencing them in real time.”
Levin is a Fox Global Directors Initiative fellow. Women and Hollywood is one of the recommending organizations for the fellowship, and two of the female filmmakers we nominated were selected for the program.
