According to Deadline, Lifetime is preparing a two-hour movie called “The 10th Date,” which could serve as a backdoor pilot for a series.
The project will be written and directed by Nzingha Stewart, writer-director of the 2015 Lifetime movie “With this Ring.” “The Devil Wears Prada” producer Wendy Finerman will EP.
“The 10th Date,” Deadline says, “follows four friends who embark on an often hilarious journey to successfully get to that elusive 10th date — a holy grail in the dating world when they think a man finally feels committed. It chronicles every woman’s battles with the ups and downs of modern romance, exes and friendships while watching their other friends struggle with the realities of marriage and dating.”
Stewart has also directed for “The Fosters,” “The Game,” “Pretty Little Liars,” and “Major Crimes.” Finerman also produced the Julie Roberts and Susan Sarandon hit “Stepmom,” as well as the Hilary Swank romance “P.S. I Love You.”
Of directing, Stewart has said, “There are obstacles that come along with the life of a director that make projects challenging. Shyness is my obstacle. As a director you have to go into these Hollywood rooms and convince people to give you millions of dollars. People want to see CONFIDENCE. I’m a director and a writer…writers are solitary people so to build confidence, I have to…remind myself that I don’t need to be afraid of anyone.”
